5M Riding Arena | Oxford, FL

Equestrian Arena

  • Industry: 5M Livestock Company

  • Size: 140x320x16 (44,800 sq ft)

  • Location: Oxford, FL

  • Building System: I Beam

When horseman and rancher Steve Munz set out to build a world-class roping arena in Oxford, Florida, he refused to settle for ordinary. He aimed for excellence. With decades in the equestrian world and a sharp understanding of what elite facilities demand, Steve designed a structure that would be durable, efficient, cost-effective, and above all, purpose-built for competitive team roping.

A strong believer in Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings, Steve had already experienced their performance in riding arenas. His choice to partner once again with Coastal Steel Structures came down to trust, collaboration, and results. From the first discussion, both teams shared a clear vision: this arena would redefine function and flexibility in the roping world, and it would be delivered without compromise.

Our Approach and Solutions

Partnership Approach

  • From the very first conversation, Coastal Steel Structures approached the 5M Livestock project not as a standard arena build, but as a long-term strategic partnership. They understood that delivering a high-performance roping facility for a discerning and experienced customer like Steve Munz meant going well beyond the basics. It required careful attention to detail, clear and consistent communication across multiple teams, and a proactive mindset that prioritized efficiency, durability, and long-term value.

Strategic Procurement That Balances Cost and Quality

  • The arena needed to withstand heavy use and environmental exposure without going over budget. Coastal Steel Structures leveraged strong supplier relationships to source high-quality steel and components at competitive prices. This approach protected the project’s financial goals while delivering the performance the client required.

Collaborative Design Support to Eliminate Rework

  • The team provided timely and attentive input during the procurement phase, confirming critical structural requirements early to help avoid costly rework. This close coordination ensured the PEMB system was precisely matched to the arena’s specific needs, delivered dependable, clear-span performance, and maintained the flexibility to adapt for future use.

Fast-Tracked Scheduling That Respected Seasonal Deadlines

  • With event season on the horizon, every week of lead time made a difference. Coastal Steel Structures expedited procurement to meet the client’s aggressive timeline without compromising quality. By ensuring materials were delivered on schedule and ready for the next phase, the construction team began interior buildout and arena surfacing ahead of plan, giving the client valuable breathing room to fine-tune the facility before launch.

A Proactive, Transparent Process From Start to Finish

  • What made the project exceptional was not just execution, but Coastal Steel Structures’ approach to partnership. The team remained proactive, transparent, and responsive throughout the procurement process. By keeping the client and project teams informed at every step, Coastal Steel made it easy for all stakeholders, from the general contractor to Steve himself, to stay aligned. The result was a smooth and efficient experience from initial order to final delivery.
