Advanced Building Solutions and Strategic Location for Granbury Church of Christ

Building Technology, Size, and Location

The Granbury Church of Christ project utilized the I-Beam building system to construct a facility spanning approximately 25,000 square feet. This new building is located in Granbury, Texas.

Building Purpose Overview

The Granbury Church of Christ aimed to expand its facilities to accommodate a growing congregation. The new building was designed to provide ample space for worship services, community gatherings, educational programs, and administrative functions. The architectural design blended modern aesthetic elements with functional spaces, creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for church members and visitors.

Project Challenges

Numerous Complex Design Elements
The project required custom engineering to incorporate large clear span frames and an open steeple area, necessitating an expansion joint.

Site Conditions
Although the building was delivered on time, a harsh winter delayed site preparation, preventing the pouring of the slab and apron. To address this, we adapted our installation plan, enabling us to complete the PEMB erection efficiently despite the adverse weather conditions

Budget Constraints
Maintaining the project within budget was a critical concern, particularly for a church-funded initiative.

Field Issues
On-site challenges needed prompt resolution to avoid delays and ensure the project stayed on track.

Specific Design Complexities
The design included sizeable clear span frames, an open steeple area requiring an expansion joint, connection to an existing building, mechanical wells with parapets at the front and back, and walls constructed with EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems) and cultured stone by other contractors.

Solutions Provided

Custom Engineering for Complex Design Elements
The I-Beam system provided large clear-span frames for open spaces, with custom engineering ensuring the steeple’s integrity and appeal. Detailed planning and collaboration seamlessly integrated EIFS, cultured stone, and the I-Beam structure, while mechanical wells and parapets were designed to complement both aesthetics and functionality.

Strategic Budget Management
Careful planning and cost management strategies were employed to keep the project within budget. Regular financial reviews and value engineering helped identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Effective Coordination
A dedicated project manager was assigned to facilitate communication and coordination among the various architects, engineers, and contractors. Regular meetings and updates ensured all parties were aligned and any issues were promptly addressed.

Prompt Resolution of Field Issues
A responsive team was on standby to tackle on-site challenges as they arose. This proactive approach minimized delays and kept the project on schedule.

Conclusions

The Granbury Church of Christ project stands as a testament to the power of strategic planning and collaboration. Completed on time and within budget, the project utilized the innovative I-Beam system to create large, open spaces, seamlessly blending modern design with functionality. Through careful budget management and quick resolution of on-site challenges, the team transformed complex designs into a vibrant, welcoming space for worship and community gatherings. This achievement showcases the impact of teamwork and forward-thinking in construction. For more information, please contact Coastal Steel Structures.
