Donato Farms
Wellington, FL
Donato Farms, owned by Jeff and Jessica Friedrich, sits in the heart of Wellington, Florida, where exceptional equestrian facilities are simply expected. Their 25,080 square foot covered riding arena was built to support elite level training for a former Olympian trainer while still feeling true to the property. Coastal Steel Structures partnered with Ventura Construction and Development to deliver a pre engineered metal building that gives horses and riders a comfortable place to train year round. This steel riding arena offers protection from Florida’s intense sun and seasonal weather, while maintaining the open, balanced feel riders value.
As a steel horse arena, the structure was designed to be strong without feeling industrial. There is a quiet elegance in steel when it is designed well. Clean lines, open spans, and thoughtful proportions create a space that feels refined rather than rigid. The durability of a metal building is there, but so is the aesthetic. The result is a polished metal horse arena that functions like a modern metal barn while reflecting the prestige and professionalism of Donato Farms.

Challenges
The project moved forward during a time when the steel market was shifting quickly. Prices were rising and material lead times were stretching. Like many prefab steel buildings during that period, delays pushed the project into a more challenging pricing environment. What began under one set of assumptions had to be recalibrated in real time. Keeping the schedule on track and the budget aligned required steady communication, flexibility, and close coordination across the entire team.
At the same time, the design process remained intentional and collaborative. The owners were deeply invested in making sure the arena reflected their long term vision for the farm. Several refinements were made to ensure the steel horse arena building balanced elite performance with the right aesthetic presence. Every decision considered both function and feel. Through thoughtful value engineering and clear communication, the team delivered a building that met expectations without compromising quality or purpose.
Solutions
Coastal Steel Structures worked closely with the owners, engineers, and contractors to bring a detailed vision to life. Every adjustment during design was thoughtful and intentional. The goal was not just to build a structure, but to create a covered riding arena that felt right in both form and function. Each refinement carefully balanced durability, daily usability, and visual appeal. Value engineering focused on protecting the character of the equestrian metal building while identifying smart ways to manage costs without compromising quality.
Strong partnerships helped keep the project moving. Coastal relied on trusted suppliers and experienced erectors to manage lead times and coordinate installation. When Ventura Construction led day to day project management, communication became even more streamlined. The installation progressed smoothly, resulting in a covered riding arena designed for long term performance and built to meet the standards expected of a premier steel riding arena.

Proven Coast to Coast
Built on Trust. Proven by Repeat Business.
Our business wasn’t built on first impressions — it was built on repeat business. The contractors, architects, and erectors who choose us once tend to keep choosing us, and refer the ones who come after them.
That’s how a company rooted in South Florida ended up building in nearly every region of the country. Clear communication, honest guidance, and real accountability don’t just deliver a great steel building. They build the kind of trust that travels.
