Private Airplane
Sparta, KY
Eric flies out of his own property in Sparta, Kentucky, and wanted his aircraft housed where he could keep it close. We delivered a 10,000 pre-engineered airplane hangar with the clear span and eave height to move the plane in and out cleanly, room to work on it, and a structure engineered for Kentucky weather. Eric handled the erection himself, with our project manager guiding the build from the first conversation to the last panel.

Requirement Specs
Room to Maneuver
Enough eave height and open, column-free floor to move the aircraft in and out and work on it inside.
Customizable Design
A layout that fit how Eric uses the hangar now, with room to adapt as his needs change.
Built to Last Outdoors
A structure that stands up to heavy rain, snow load, and intense sun, and won’t burn.
Low Maintenance
A building that resists rust and mold and doesn’t demand constant upkeep.
Challenges
This was a private hangar on personal property, sized to one specific aircraft, so the dimensions had to be right rather than close. The building needed almost 10,000 square feet of usable space, the clear height to bring the plane in, and the structural ratings to handle Kentucky’s weather year-round.
On top of that, Eric was erecting the building himself instead of hiring a general contractor, which meant the plan had to be clear enough for his crew to run with and our team had to stay available throughout.
Solutions
Sized the Building Around the Aircraft
We spec’d a 100×100 footprint at 18 feet of eave: roughly 10,000 square feet with the clearance to bring the plane in and still have working room overhead. The I-Beam frame carries a clear span across the full width, so no column interrupts the floor and the aircraft moves wherever Eric needs it.
Engineered for the Conditions and for What’s Next
Steel handles Kentucky’s range, from snow load to summer heat, and it’s non-combustible, which matters when you’re housing an aircraft. We also built in the flexibility for Eric to modify or add on later, so the hangar fits how he uses it now and can grow with him.
Resolved the Details Before the Steel Was Manufactured
Door openings, layout, and the points that make a hangar usable got worked out upfront, not on site. Because Eric was running his own erection, our project manager walked him through the construction plan, sequenced the steps, and stayed reachable through the whole build.
Results
The hangar went up on schedule. Eric got a building sized to his aircraft, with the clearance to work on it and room built in to expand later. He erected it himself with our team backing him the whole way, and it holds up to everything Kentucky weather brings.

Chris, We wanted to take a moment and thank you for your continued support and good products in the horse industry. BRS entered into this Market in 2014 and since then we have built 4 structures with you including 3 indoor arenas and a large Commercial Garage. Your product is of top quality and your support with the engineered drawings is outstanding. You take your time when you are with us and do not rush us out the door. Also, when there were any field discrepancies you jumped at the opportunity to make it right. For that, we thank you and hope to do business with you well into the future. Have a great night.

Our family has been in the Equine Industry for 30 years. We have dealt with countless contractors and suppliers. After many, many years of wishing and hoping, we were able to complete our dream of erecting a Covered Arena. Coastal Steel Structures made this possible with their more than fair pricing for our building. Every one we came in contact with were friendly, courteous and helpful. The building was delivered correctly and timely. We would highly recommend them for any steel buildings you may need.

Proven Coast to Coast
Built on Trust. Proven by Repeat Business.
Our business wasn’t built on first impressions — it was built on repeat business. The contractors, architects, and erectors who choose us once tend to keep choosing us, and refer the ones who come after them.
That’s how a company rooted in South Florida ended up building in nearly every region of the country. Clear communication, honest guidance, and real accountability don’t just deliver a great steel building. They build the kind of trust that travels.
