Olympus Airplane Hangar
Hazleton, PA
The Olympus Air Hangar is a 20,000 square foot pre engineered steel building located at Hazleton Regional Airport in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Designed as a Fixed Base Operator hangar, the facility serves private aircraft owners who lease the space to a jet charter company. From day one, this project required more than just a standard steel hangar building. It had to meet strict airport regulations, fire codes, and operational standards while delivering a clean, professional environment worthy of private aviation clients.
Built using pre-engineered metal building, the structure provides the wide clear span needed for safe aircraft storage, maneuverability, and long term flexibility. A foam fire suppression system was integrated to meet code requirements and protect high value aircraft assets. The end result is a modern FBO aviation facility that supports daily operations while maintaining safety, durability, and efficiency.

Challenges
Like most aviation projects, the Olympus Air Hangar required careful coordination from the start. Aircraft hangars involve complex engineering, strict fire code compliance, and detailed airport regulations. Staying ahead of potential design bottlenecks was critical to maintaining steady progress and protecting the overall schedule.
Seasonal weather added another layer of complexity. While the steel building package arrived on time, winter conditions delayed site preparation and concrete work. At the same time, the specialized aviation door supplier experienced pandemic related labor disruptions that affected delivery timing. Each factor required flexibility, communication, and proactive planning to keep the project moving forward without compromising quality.
Solutions
Early collaboration set the tone for success. By working closely with the Architect and Engineer of Record, we released engineering drawings early and incorporated PEMB best practices into the design. This helped prevent bottlenecks, streamline approvals, and maintain project momentum.
When winter conditions impacted site work, we adjusted the erection sequence to keep crews productive wherever possible. During the door supplier delay, a dedicated field supervisor coordinated installation and sheeting to control costs and protect the schedule. The result is a compliant, efficient steel hangar building delivered on time and ready to support long term FBO operations.

Chris, We wanted to take a moment and thank you for your continued support and good products in the horse industry. BRS entered into this Market in 2014 and since then we have built 4 structures with you including 3 indoor arenas and a large Commercial Garage. Your product is of top quality and your support with the engineered drawings is outstanding. You take your time when you are with us and do not rush us out the door. Also, when there were any field discrepancies you jumped at the opportunity to make it right. For that, we thank you and hope to do business with you well into the future. Have a great night.

Our family has been in the Equine Industry for 30 years. We have dealt with countless contractors and suppliers. After many, many years of wishing and hoping, we were able to complete our dream of erecting a Covered Arena. Coastal Steel Structures made this possible with their more than fair pricing for our building. Every one we came in contact with were friendly, courteous and helpful. The building was delivered correctly and timely. We would highly recommend them for any steel buildings you may need.

Proven Coast to Coast
Built on Trust. Proven by Repeat Business.
Our business wasn’t built on first impressions — it was built on repeat business. The contractors, architects, and erectors who choose us once tend to keep choosing us, and refer the ones who come after them.
That’s how a company rooted in South Florida ended up building in nearly every region of the country. Clear communication, honest guidance, and real accountability don’t just deliver a great steel building. They build the kind of trust that travels.
