One More Child
Jacksonville, FL
The One More Child Community Center in Jacksonville, Florida is a 25,000 square foot PEMB built to support the mission of a charity organization serving families and children when they need it most. The building brings many essential services together under one roof. A front lobby where families are welcomed. Resource rooms where support and guidance happen. Food intake areas that help meet immediate needs. Warehouse space that keeps supplies moving to the people who rely on them.
Coastal Steel Structures worked alongside the general contractor and a vetted erector from our network to help make sure the building truly supported the organization’s work. The layout was designed with flexibility in mind, knowing the needs inside would grow and change. Glass wall elements were added to bring in light and create a space that feels open, calm, and inviting.
The goal was not just to build a facility, but to support the people behind the mission.

Challenges
This project carried extra weight because of who it serves. Manufacturing issues and system coordination challenges created pressure on the schedule, and every delay mattered. Inside the building, the number of functional spaces added complexity, especially within a PEMB structure that had to balance efficiency with care.
Interior wall construction quickly became a budget concern. For a charity organization, every dollar saved meant more resources going back into the mission. At the same time, the design included large glass wall systems that brought beauty and openness but required careful planning and coordination to install correctly.
The team knew the building had to work, stay on budget, and honor the purpose behind it. That responsibility guided every decision.
Solutions
Solutions came through steady problem solving and practical decisions. Coastal Steel Structures helped value engineer a full interior wall system that worked better with the PEMB structure and reduced overall costs. That shift made a meaningful difference to the project budget while keeping the layout and performance intact.
Manufacturing and installation challenges were addressed through close coordination and adjustments to installation systems as needed. The glass walls required additional effort, but through collaboration with the contractor and erector, they were successfully installed without losing the openness of the design.
By working with a trusted general contractor and a vetted erector from our network, the project stayed aligned. The finished building stands ready to support the organization’s work and the people who depend on it every day.

Chris, We wanted to take a moment and thank you for your continued support and good products in the horse industry. BRS entered into this Market in 2014 and since then we have built 4 structures with you including 3 indoor arenas and a large Commercial Garage. Your product is of top quality and your support with the engineered drawings is outstanding. You take your time when you are with us and do not rush us out the door. Also, when there were any field discrepancies you jumped at the opportunity to make it right. For that, we thank you and hope to do business with you well into the future. Have a great night.

Coastal Steel Structures made this possible with their more than fair pricing for our building. Every one we came in contact with were friendly, courteous and helpful. The building was delivered correctly and timely. We would highly recommend them for any steel buildings you may need.

Proven Coast to Coast
Built on Trust. Proven by Repeat Business.
Our business wasn’t built on first impressions — it was built on repeat business. The contractors, architects, and erectors who choose us once tend to keep choosing us, and refer the ones who come after them.
That’s how a company rooted in South Florida ended up building in nearly every region of the country. Clear communication, honest guidance, and real accountability don’t just deliver a great steel building. They build the kind of trust that travels.
